Race Overview

This is our 8^th annual 5K run and walk. This event raises awareness for survivors of sexual abuse and raises money that goes to programs that help survivors of sexual abuse. The race takes place on a flat, fast course at the beautiful campus of Scarlet Oaks in Sharonville . We hope to see you there!

What: A 5K Race for Runners and Walkers

When: Memorial Day – Monday, May 26, 2008, 9:00 A.M.

Where: Scarlet Oaks Career Campus, 3254 E. Kemper Rd, Sharonville, 45241

*Bring Three and Run for Free* – This is the best 5K deal in the Midwest! Bring three people to walk or run (who have not walked or run in this event in 2007) and your entry is free!! In order to be eligible, all four entries must be sent in one envelope and must be received by May 15.

PLEASE NOTE: To qualify for our special promotion, BRING THREE AND RUN FOR FREE, you must:

1. Enclose all four registrations (label your own as the ‘free’ one) in one envelope and mail to Steve Prescott, PO Box 454, Mason, OH 45040

2. Be sure that the other three participants have not run or walked in the Bashful Ostrich in 2007

3. Enclose a check (or checks) to cover the remaining three entries

Register early and receive an attractive Bashful Ostrich t-shirt (sure to be a collector’s item – the first microfiber we’ve done!!). To be eligible for this shirt, your entry must be received by April 1. Yes, that’s right, if you register by April 1, you’ll receive both the microfiber shirt and the microfiber hat … and the great post-race party!!

Benefits programs that help survivors of sexual abuse

Awards: Overall winners will receive Bashful Ostrich awards as well as other special awards.

Top 15 runners get special Bashful Ostrich awards. Age bracket winners in the running division will receive Lucite Bashful Ostrich awards. Second and third place runners in each age bracket will receive Bashful Ostrich awards. Age brackets: Running: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-69; 70 & over

Walking: 1^st place awards to fastest male and female walker; top 15 walkers get special Bashful Ostrich awards.

Best Dressed Ostrich Award: One award for a registered walker or runner who wears the best ostrich costume. Decided by race committee judges.

Grand Fund Raiser Award: Any contribution above the entry fee will be appreciated. Participants are encouraged to get pledges and the runner or walker who raises the most funds will receive a special award and be recognized in the awards ceremony. Please bring your pledges (cash or check only) to registration at packet pick-up times or on race day to the registration table.

Door prizes: A random drawing for a variety of door prizes will provide the chance for many to walk away with a prize, including a Jacuzzi suite package at La Quinta Inn in Sharonville. Many other great prizes: Reds tickets, dinners, etc.
